Hyderabad: The suicide of a tribal student led to tension in the tribal welfare hostel in Konaraopet mandal of Karimnagar district on Saturday. Officials said Bhukya Swami, 12, hanged himself in his room. Parents of the student roughed up the warden and school staff in a fit of rage. As news spread, tribals from Bhukya’s native village Vanpally reached the hostel and staged a dharna demanding action against the staff.
The protestors demanded that the collector visit the spot and ensure justice to them. Assuring action after an inquiry, local police officials stated that they would ensure that the family gets help from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and a 2-bedroom house.
