Fire alert! Bangalore Metro halts for 15 minutes
Bengaluru: The services on the Namma Metro’s purple line (from Byappanahalli to Mysore Road) got disrupted for nearly 15 minutes on Saturday morning following a fire alert at Cubbon Park station.
Around 11.33 am, the Station Controller of Cubbon Park Metro Station received a fire alarm, as smoke was seen arising at the platform towards the east end, M.G. Road. The Operation Control Centre of BMRCL was also informed about the smoke.
“The fire services and policemen were called. Their investigation revealed that the smoke had generated from the air handling unit on the eastern side of the station platform area. Because of this, train services were disrupted for 15 minutes. They resumed by 11 50 am,” said Vasanth Rao, CPRO, BMRCL.
As a precautionary measure all trains on the line 1 were stopped. After receiving an all-clear signal from senior officers of BMRCL, fire services and police, the services on the purple line were resumed.
