Badminton to get a boost in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government would set up a badminton academy for providing international level coaching facilities.
Inaugurating the newly constructed indoor stadium and planting saplings under Vanam-Manam programme at Siddhartha Mahila College here on Saturday, the CM said the government would make the indoor stadium of the college as badminton academy for girls.
Nearly 100 girl students would be selected and training also would be provided in the badminton academy along with education, he asserted. He congratulated the Siddhartha Academy for providing best education and sports facilities. He suggested the management to compete with corporate education in the results.
He asked the students to take part in the service activities in their native villages. He congratulated the students of the college for making the city roadside walls clean with their art.
Minister Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao, MP Kesineni Srinivas, MLA Gadde Rammohan, college principal T. Vijaya Lakshmi and several officials were also present.
Meanwhile, at a separate programme, the Chief Minister said that the government is giving top most priority to agriculture-allied sectors. He urged the Marine Prod-ucts Export Development Authority (MPEDA) to help achieve 20 per cent growth rate in fisheries. He was invited by MPEDA chairman Mr A. Jaya Thilak to the 20th India International Sea Food Show-2016 to be held in Vizag from September 23 to 25.
