Section 144 Imposed In Vinukonda In Palnadu After TDP YSRC Supporters Clash

Vijayawada: Tense situation prevailed in Vinukonda Town of Palnadu district in AP on Thursday as TDP and YSRCP supporters clashed over TDP district chief's allegations against YSRCP MLA's involvement in illegal gravel mining activity. Vinukonda Circle Inspector present on the occasion had to fire in the air and police was forced to resort to lathicharge to control the clashing workers.

TDP leaders had earlier alleged the involvement of Mr. Bolla Brahma Naidu Vinukonda YSRCP MLA in illegal gravel mining in the region. MLA termed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated. His supporters then lodged a police complaint against the TDP leaders including TDP district chief G.V. Anjannelylu.

Based on the complaint, Vinukonda police registered a case of forceful entry in the private property and issuing threats against TDP leaders.

TDP supporters called a rally to protest against the police case.

When rally reached a point in its route where MLA along with YSRCP cadres was present, both the parties indulged in sloganeering against their opponents.

However, within short time this squabble transitioned into a full blown clash between both the parties and police had to use force to control the situation, according to Palnadu Police Chief, Y Ravi Sankara Reddy.

Amidst the counter allegations of inciting the violence from both parties involved, Police has stationed additional police force in the area as a preventive measure. In view of the tense situation, Mandal Tahsildar of Vinukonda, B Kiran Kumar imposed section 144 from 27th July to 30th July to bring the situation under control.
