Nizamabad: A wild bear created a flutter in Dharmaram (B) village in Dichpally mandal in Nizamabad district on Saturday. The animal entered the village on Saturday morning and attacked four persons. The villagers tried to attack it but it took shelter in some bushes.
The local residents called police and forest officers. Even as they rushed to the village, they called a rescue team from the Nehru Zoological Park which reached Dharmaram (B) later.
Forest officials set up nets around the bushes to capture the bear but it managed to escape other bushes nearby. The rescue team then attempted to tranquilise the bear but in vain. After about 10 hours, officials caught the bear.
The operation was watched by a large number of locals. It is believed that the wild bear might have entered Dharmaram (B) from the nearby forests.
