Dowry harassment: Police launch hunt for ESI hospital employee
Bengaluru: Basavanagudi women police station sleuths are on the lookout for a central government employee who is currently on the run after torturing his wife demanding dowry. The accused, Anil Kumar (32), a lab technician in Peenya ESI hospital had married a 24 year-old woman, hailing from Mandya, in March. They were staying at Nandini Layout.
According to the complaint, Anil had started harassing his wife on the day of nuptials itself. Later he left his wife at her aunt's place.Whenever she called him, Anil used to accuse her of having affairs with neighbours. When she raised the issue his family, they blamed the victim.
Anil took Rs 1.5 lakh from woman’s family to rent a house, but after taking the money, he did not made any arrangements.
The elder brother of the victim left her at her husband's place. Enraged by this, the accused started torturing the victim. He tore her clothes. He held her by hair and dragged her. He tied her up in an inebriated state and caused bodily harm. He also refused to send her to her house.
The victim later managed to escape and lodged a complaint against her husband. The police have also booked his family members.
