Two die in a serial freak accident on KIA flyover

When Ganesh got down from his car to check on the two men, another speeding car knocked him down.

Bengaluru: In a freak accident on KIA road flyover in Yelahanka, a biker and a cab driver died, while the pillion rider was injured on Thursday night.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivas Naidu, 32, the bike rider and Ganesh, 40, the cab driver. The pillion rider, Venkat Reddy, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the police, Srinivas and Venkat, both hailing from Andhra Pradesh and residents of Bengaluru were riding a bike on Bengaluru-Ballari Road.

Srinivas received a call on his mobile phone and parked his bike on the side of the flyover near Cafe Coffee Day.

Cab driver Ganesh failed to notice the parked two-wheeler and rammed into it. When Ganesh got down from his car to check on the two men, another speeding car knocked him down.

The passerby immediately rushed them to the nearby hospital where Srinivas succumbed to injuries, while a critically injured Ganesh was shifted to Columbia Asia hospital, where he succumbed on Friday morning.

The Yelahanka traffic police who rushed to the spot cleared the traffic and arrested the accused cab driver, Rajesh H., 32, a resident of Jakkur.

The police said the condition of the pillion rider has improved and is now out of danger.
