Poll malpractice: Karnataka High Court notice to JDS MLA

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has issued notice to Sakleshpur MLA H.K. Kumaraswamy from JD (S) party and others following an election petition filed by A.V. Naresh challenging his election.

Of the several election petitions filed in the recent past before High Court, at least 10 of them have been filed under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act.

According to the act, petitions questioning election of MPs/MLAs have to be filed within 45 days from the date of announcement of election results.

Notice to BSY’s aide
The High Court has issued notice to Rajendra K., reportedly an aide of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in connection with a case related to attempt to kidnapping former deputy chief minister Eshwarappa’s aide Vinay.

Rajendra is an accused in an attempt to kidnap case. According to police, a few habitual offenders who were questioned in connection with the case had allegedly confessed that they had done it at the behest of Rajendra.

The court had granted bail to him by imposing certain conditions.

Now, the police have approached high court seeking cancelation of bail granted to him for violating bail conditions.
