China's Zhejiang to explore Tamil Nadu business openings
Chennai: Zhejiang province, China, which sees good scope for business opportunities in the state in the field of medical equipments, hopes to make a mark in the Tamil Nadu’s healthcare sector.
“We are happy that the Indian market has great opportunity for growing the business, and we are especially looking forward for long term business opportunities in Tamil Nadu, as well,” says says Zhuang Jin, deputy director in the commerce ministry of the Zhejiang province.
Already popular Zhejiang companies have set up their offices in India and they would showcase their prowess as leading manufacturers of superior quality medical equipments, she said on Friday.
“We look forward to establishing our presence in Tamil Nadu. For the first time, 56 companies specialising in medical equipments have come from Zhejiang to display their range of products in Chennai and to take things forward,” she added.
Zhejiang is participating in the 20th edition of India’s largest medical equipment trade fair: ‘Medicall’ being held under the aegis of Medexpert Business Consultants Pvt Ltd in association with Dr Manivannan S, joint managing director of Kauvery hospital, here. The expo is on at the Chennai Trade Centre till July 29.
In an informal chat with reporters here on Friday Ms. Jin said her government and trade association would also explore scope for possible tie-up in Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, inaugurating the Zhejiang Export Fair-2018 (India) at the Chennai Trade Centre here, she said “with over 70 per cent imported medical appliances, the expenses in health care of India remains an average annual growth rate of 12 per cent and it has been predicted that five lakh medical beds will be in need in the next five years,” she said and added that due to India’s limitation, there is a great demand for imported medical appliances.
Apart from 100 stalls from Zhejiang Province displaying innovative products, more than 6,000 products from 20 countries, including Germany, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, Portugal, Italy, UK and USA would display their products. The fair focusses on all the hospital needs right from surgical cotton to the latest imaging equipment and surgical tools, says Dr Manivannan.
