Hyderabad: The State Wakf Board has permitted erection of 85 hoardings at various locations, including graveyards, in the city. The revenue that it is earning through these hoardings is next to nothing.
Discrepancies came to light during an internal audit recently conducted by the board. Officials found that they were receiving payment for only 4 or 5 of the hoardings. The rest of the money had not been deposited with the board.
The board has asked one of its officials to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report. Mohammed Saleemuddin, the chairman of the Wakf Board, says that the board has suffered a huge loss of revenue. He says that he will take action after receiving the inquiry report.
