Political rivalries give Addanki sleepless nights
Nellore: The differences between the followers of Addanki legislator Gottipati Ravikumar and his arch rival Karanam Balaram MLC continue to cause sleepless nights to the residents of Addanki segment. Locals have been alleging that the development works have been coming to a halt because of political rivalries in the constituency. In the latest development, tense situation prevailed in Addanki town after MLC Karanam Balaram has unveiled the plaques installed by his followers for two CC Roads at Government Hospital and Pothurajugandi and a Bitumen Road between Damavaripalem to Santamaguluru around 3 am on Thursday.
Incidentally officials already installed plaques for these three works and made arrangements for inauguration on Friday by the legislator Gottipati Ravi Kumar as per his instructions. However, followers of Balaram forced their leader to unveil the plaques they arranged stressing that he is responsible for the sanction of funds for the works in the past. Suspecting possible law and problems because of MLC’s move, police and municipal officials removed the plaques installed by the followers of the MLC on Thursday stressing that no individual can install the plaques except the civic body for such works.
This move has led to escalation of tensions in the region. Large number of Balaram followers thronged to Addanki after they came to know about the incident. But police kept them at bay by clamping Section 144 in the town. Authorities also deployed a large contingent of police to prevent any untoward incident in the area. Darsi DSP V.S. Rambabu and CI Hyma Rao have been camping at Addanki and closely monitoring the situation.
