Vijayawada: Officials of the department of youth services met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday to discuss the state youth policy and the unemployment allowance. Mr Naidu saw their presentation and participated in a detailed critique of the implementation of the scheme with ministers Nara Lokesh, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Pithani Satyanar-ayana and Kollu Ravin-dra, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar, secretary, BC welfare, B. Udayalakshmi and special commissioner Komal Kishore.
The policy aims to make the youth employable and addresses the overall welfare of socially and economically disadvantaged youth. The identified age group for the allowance is 15 to 35 years, because the eligibility for government employment is less than than 35 years. Mr Naidu has changed this to 18 years, clarifying that the allowance must not discourage the youth from studying. The officials explained 10 priority areas and said 10 states had implemented a youth policy.
