Experts back uniform test paper for Neet

The regional language question papers will just be a translation of the question paper set in English, Mr Javadekar said.

Hyderabad: Experts have backed the proposal by Union minister Prakash Javadekar to have uniform question papers for Neet medical entrance tests in all states but they worry about the chance of leakages because more people would be involved in translation of the papers.

Neet aspirants from Telugu states and those taking the test in regional languages had a tough time this year as most of the questions were said to be tougher than the English paper. The HRD ministry decision to provide uniform question papers to every state follows this.

The regional language question papers will just be a translation of the question paper set in English, Mr Javadekar said.

Dr Pallam Praveen, vice-president, All India Federation of Government Doctors Association, said, “If there is only one set of question papers, there is a chance of a paper leak. Therefore they print separate sets having different questions. No one should know which paper will be released till the last moment.”

Mr Kumar Veermallu, an expert, said, “Now they have to be more careful as there are more chances of paper leaks with the involvement of more people in translation of question papers.”

Dr G, Srinivas an expert said, “State board students are finding it tough to crack the Neet. CBSE should maintain a equal standard for all the languages.”
