Don\'t pull out of Loka Kerala Sabha, Pinarayi Vijayan tells Opposition

The Sabha has been constituted keeping out political considerations and its activities will continue irrespective of the governments in power.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday appealed to opposition leaders and MLAs to reconsider their decision to pull out of Loka Kerala Sabha.

Mr Vijayan urged the opposition leaders not to take any hasty decision as Loka Kerala Sabha was aimed at ensuring participation of the NRKs in Kerala's development activities in every sphere. The Sabha has been constituted keeping out political considerations and its activities will continue irrespective of the governments in power.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and UDF MLAs had decided to pull out of the committees of Loka Kerala Sabha in protest against the suicide of NRK businessman Sajan who was denied licence by Anthoor municipality for his convention centre.

The chief minister said Loka Kerala Sabha was formed with the objective of removing the drawbacks in development activities in the state and ensuring the participation of NRKs. The formation of Sabha was also with the perspective of using the expertise and rich experience of NRKs.

The Sabha is in the process of examining the problems being faced by NRKs and the steps that the government could take in removing such hurdles.
