MBBS, BE and B Tech rank lists to be released today

Counselling expected to commence on July 7.

Chennai: The medical and engineering aspirants are eagerly awaiting the rank lists scheduled to be released on Thursday. Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar will release MBBS/BDS rank list at 9 am on Thursday. Higher Education minister K.P. Anbalagan will release the engineering rank list at Anna University.

Director of Medical Education Dr Edwin Joe said that the rank list will be accessible on tnhealth.org or www.tnmedicalselection.org. The counselling is expected to commence on July 7. The candidates will be granted admissions based on marks obtained in Neet 2018 and candidates shall be admitted to MBBS/BDS course from the rank list being released tomorrow. The candidates will be called for counselling according to their rank in the rank list being released on Thursday.

Around 43,935 application forms were submitted for MBBS and BDS admissions in government and self-financing colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University to Director of Medical Education this year.

“The rank list will be available only on official websites. Results will not be communicated individually. A total of 2,900 seats in government medical colleges and 783 seats in private colleges are available this year, while 15 per cent seats have been reserved for all-India quota,” informed selection committee secretary, Dr G Selvaraj.

The tentative dates of counselling, according to the Tamil Nadu Medical Admission 2018 schedule for the first phase, is July 7 to 10 and for the second phase July 22 to 24. The schedule will be hosted on the website after the completion of 2nd Round of All India Neet Counselling, said a notification by Director of Medical Education. The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions committee has received more than 1,59,632 applications for online engineering counselling this year. But, only 1,09,850 candidates attended the certificate verification which was held from June 8 to 14. As many as 49,781 candidates were absent. Sources said the minister is likely to announce the dates for online engineering counselling and for special quota after releasing the rank list. The rank list was prepared on basis of cut-off marks scored by candidates in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. The online counselling scheduled to be conducted in five rounds.
