Hyderabad high court sets aside order for housing society elections
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday set aside orders issued by the Hyderabad district cooperative officer (DCO) and joint registrar of cooperative societies to conduct elections to the AP NGOs Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society Ltd.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J. Uma Devi was disposing of appeals by the government, Mr M. Satyanarayana Goud and 14 employees challenging an order of single judge who had suspended the orders issued by the DCO to conduct the society elections.
The high court bench felt the DCO had failed to cite the reasons to conduct the elections and considering the explanation offered by the society president while passing the order.
The high court bench directed the district cooperative officer to pass the fresh order after considering the explanation offered by the society president. The bench directed the directors, president and secretary of the society to furnish their addresses to the DCO within a week.
The district cooperative officer had issued orders on May 18 and June 1 to conduct the general body meeting of the society and elect the ad hoc committee on the ground that the panel headed by Mr Ashok Babu, president of AP NGOs Association, had failed to submit the annual audit and holding the election in time.
