Telangana: Two district judges suspended for taking out protest rally
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday suspended district judge rank judicial officers K. Ravinder Reddy and V. Varaprasad, president and secretary of the Telangana Judicial Officers’ Association, for taking out a rally on Sunday protesting the allocation of judicial officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The High Court also issued orders holding back appointment of Mr Radha Krishna Chowhan, another judge, as 24th metropolitan magistrate of Cyberabad, for participating in the agitation. The suspension of the two judicial officers further angered the agitating lawyers of Telangana, who also demanded the recall of the acting CJ.
200 judicial officers going on mass leave
As many as 200 subordinate judicial officers of districts and city courts in the state will to go on mass casual leave from Tuesday in protest of suspension of the two judicial officers and also demanding recall of the provisional allocation list published on May 3, 2016 by the High Court. They will meet on Tuesday to decide on further action in this regard.
The Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association also resolved on Monday to abstain from the proceedings of the bench headed by the acting Chief Justice (1st Court) from Tuesday till the suspension of the two judicial officers was revoked.
The extraordinary general body meeting of the Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association, held here on Monday at the High Court, unanimously resolved to request the Chief Justice of India and President of India to recall the acting Chief Justice, alleging that his attitude was biased and against the Telangana judicial officers.
While the association condemned the suspension orders issued by the High Court, employees of the subordinate judiciary of the state announced that they would abstain from their duties from Tuesday.
The Federation of Bar Associations of Telangana has also resolved unanimously to intensify their on-going stir till the suspension orders are revoked and the High Court bifurcated. Mr C. Damodar Reddy, chairman of the Telangana Congress Legal Cell, demanded immediate revocation of suspension of the two judges.
