Rivals of autocratic' BS Yeddyurappa to meet today
Bengaluru: State BJP president B. S. Yeddyurappa is likely to face the ire of second-rung leaders and cadre during a meeting convened at the party office on Tuesday as they are upset with his autocratic style of functioning as well as appointment of former KJP leaders as district office bearers.
At the meeting on Tuesday, the second-rung leaders are likely to express their resentment over unilateral decisions of Mr Yeddyurappa. Sources in the party told Deccan Chronicle that even members of the core committee were unhappy about the appointment of office bearers for various districts.
In fact, former deputy chief minister K.S. Eshwarappa has vociferously opposed the functioning of Mr. Yeddyurappa. Now second rung leaders are disturbed as their contribution to the party has been ignored. Thus they have decided to elicit the opinion of party cadre regarding recent decisions of Mr Yeddyurappa.
Sources said about eight to ten leaders are likely to meet at the party office tomorrow to discuss these issues. They include Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, former minister C.T. Ravi, MLA, Sunil Kumar, MLCs, Banu Prakash, Somanna Bevinamarada, former MLAs, Sogadu Shivanna, Ravindranath, former MLC Shivayogi Swamy and party former MLA Nirmala Kumar Surana.
Party sources maintained that these like-minded BJP leaders are not opposed to party leadership, but are worried about recent developments. It is been alleged that, Mr. Yeddyurappa, has given more importance to KJP leaders and also yielding to the pressure of his diehard supporter Shobha Karandlaje in appointment of office bearers.
After the meeting, these leaders would bring the issues to the notice of party core committee leaders. Like minded BJP leaders are of the opinion that Mr. Yeddyurappa and his team have completely ignored loyal workers while making appointments.
