Governance formally begins from Andhra Pradesh capital region
Vijayawada/Guntur: The AP government formally began administering the state from Vijayawada on Monday. As many as 13 departments began functioning from the state capital region, the offices being inaugurated in the presence of ministers and higher officials amidst traditional and religious rituals.
AP ministers, NGOs leader P. Ashok Babu, RTC MD N. Sambasiva Rao, SAAP chairman P.R. Mohan and other higher officials of various departments took part in the rituals and welcomed the staff.
However, the lack of sufficient amenities and facilities, even furniture and power outlets, was glaring.
Offices like that of the Social Welfare wing and others, that had shifted earlier, were more or less ‘settled’.
Minister Ravela Kishore Babu agreed that there were several challenges before the staff, but he said that the mood was upbeat. “We had to shift, governing AP from Hyderabad was becoming strenuous,” he said.
Mr Kishor Babu said that while the required office buildings were still under-construction, they shifted as per the deadline set by Chief Minister N. Chandhrababu Naidu.
Meanwhile, Mangalagiri YSRC MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy wondered at the hurry to shift from Hyderabad.
