Pvt hospitals in Telangana stick to their guns, refuse to lower charges

HYDERABAD: Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA) on Thursday wrote to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao that they cannot treat Covid-19 patients by the rates fixed by the government.

They said that the cost of treatment was extremely high because the price of oxygen cylinders had gone up six to eight times, while the cost of medical gadgets, remuneration and biomedical waste disposal had gone up more than three times.

The association said that even infrastructure expenditure on ventilators, CPAP machines and devices was high.

Dr K. Kishan Rao, president of THANA, said, "We want the government to revise the rates in private hospitals."

The revised tariff submitted by the association is: General ward Rs 10,000; sharing room: Rs15,000; single room Rs 20,000; Intensive care unit treatment is Rs 40,000 and extra medical devices and ventilator machines to range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per day.
