Hyderabad: The JEE Advanced held on Monday posed quite a challenge to IIT aspirants. Students feel that this year's papers turned out to be tougher than last year. Of all the subjects, chemistry seemed the easiest.
Each of the two papers for physics, chemistry and mathematics, comprised three sections. The exam for Paper-1 was held between 9 am and 12 noon and Paper-2 from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Most students said they found the papers moderate to difficult but easy.
Students said the physics paper covered from all chapters of classes 11 and 12. The mathematics paper had more questions from algebra and coordinate geometry. In the chemistry paper, there were fewer questions on organic chemistry as compared to inorganic and physical chemistry.
Mathematics and physics were the toughest and Paper 2 of mathematics was lengthy and time taking. Most of the questions were in physics were conceptually challenging, said K. Nisha, who appeared for the test.
Mr Siddharth Jain, who coaches IIT aspirants, said, "The exam seemed to have been more difficult as compared to 2018. This year chemistry was the easiest probably because last time it was very difficult and many students missed out places on the merit list because they did not clear the chemistry cut-off."
Experts said there might be a dip in the score required for the top 1,000 all India ranks. The cut-off is also expected to be on the lower side.
