Salem: In a fresh turn to what has come to be termed the 'Rasipuram baby sale case', the State CB-CID police on Monday made detailed enquiries about various aspects of the unfortunate case and the staff at the Mohan Kumaramangalam government hospital here.
A Crime Branch-CID team led by DSP Krishnan swooped down on the hospital premises and quizzed the staff in the children's ward in a bid to know whether and how 'brokers' operated in the alleged baby-sale racket. They also enquired about other possible nurses who could be involved including one of them suspended recently.
It may be recalled that so far ten persons including a former nursing assistant Amudhavalli, her husband and a beautician from Bengaluru have been arrested. The racket had recently surfaced with the purported audio of Amudhavalli with a potential child buyer in Dharmapuri district going viral on the social media. This led to the Health department to take notice.
