Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar has warned administrators of WhatsApp groups of criminal cases if any of their members are found to be circulating disinformation resulting in unrest in the city.
He urged the people to delete rumours they receive through social media channels instead of carrying them forward. “Our cyber crime cell functions round the clock and within 24 hours we can identify the persons who spread the information,” he said.
DCP, South, V. Satyanarayana said that the police had registered cases against three persons including two reporters of web channels for spreading false news.
