Amruth could prove to be tax'ic
Hyderabad: The GHMC is on its way to increasing taxes and fees as part of urban reforms mandated by the Centre. The GHMC will have to appoint a consultant to suggest measures to improve municipal taxes and advertisement fees as part of these reforms.
Under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUTH), the Union ministry of urban development ministry is providing technical and financial assistance to ‘smart cities’ for undertaking urban reforms.
The consultant has to be appointed by the end of this month but the GHMC has written for time till June 13 to finalise the process.
The funds for the reforms will be provided by the urban development ministry under the Capacity Building for Urban Development programme.
For this, the Union ministry had shortlisted separate panels of consulting firms along with model Request for Proposals for addressing urban reforms in smart cities like improvement of property tax and enhancement of advertisement tax and others.
The GHMC has formed a committee for the selection of the consultant and has informed the state government that the details have been finalised by the committee and the tentative date for floating of the RFP is May 25.
