Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association threatens to go on strike
The tanker owners have announced their indefinite strike from May 29 midnight.
Hyderabad: The TS Petroleum Dealers Association has threatened to go on strike from June 5 if the government does not meet the demands of tanker owners. The tanker owners have announced their indefinite strike from May 29 midnight.
Owners of 3,000 tankers that are attached with oil companies have given the strike call to protest against 14.5 per cent VAT on transport of oil that the government has imposed with effect from May 1. They say no state collects VAT, except AP where the rate is 5 per cent.
Dealers association president N. Dinesh Reddy said bunks would have fuel to last for a day or two, but panic buying would exhaust the stocks if the truckers’ issue was not resolved.
