Hyderabad: Stressing that the Centre was yet to give funds in full for the constructing of its new capital as was promised in the AP Reorganisation Act, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday disagreed with Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu's statement that there was no need to develop the new AP capital on a grand scale.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu had stated in a TV interview on Thursday that his party stood for decentralised development. There, he said, was the need for an administrative capital but not an unsustainable capital as was envisaged by Mr Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister, in his inaugural speech at the Mahanadu, said that his party wanted Amaravati developed on par with Hyderabad. The Mahanadu on Friday adopted a resolution on non-implementation of the assurances made by the Centre in the AP Reorganisation Act and in Parliament, that included the demand for a Special Category state.
However, the CM was soft in his references to the Centre, and stressed that it was important that AP got along well with the Central government. Development of the state was of prime importance. Mr Chandrababu Naidu said he had entered into an alliance with the BJP in the 2014 election for the sake of development of the state after state's bifurcation and for strengthening of his party in TS.
