Kagodu Thimmappa to officials: Close Justice Adi ouster file

Mr Thimmappa was reluctant to comment on the issue and said that Justice Adi was free to continue as Upa Lokayukta.

Bengaluru: A day after a Karnataka High Court panel gave a clean chit to Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhas Adi, Speaker Mr Kagodu Thimmappa has asked his office to close the file pertaining to the motion to remove Justice Adi from office.

Mr Thimmappa was reluctant to comment on the issue and said that Justice Adi was free to continue as Upa Lokayukta, as the High Court had given a clean chit to him.

Sources said that Mr Kagodu had asked his Secretariat to close the file and not entertain any questions or discussion pertaining to the removal of Justice Adi. As per his instructions, the Secretariat has closed the file.

When asked about the report, Mr Kagodu said he had received it from Karnataka High Court and Mr Adi had been cleared of all allegations. On whether this was an embarrassment for the state government as ruling Congress legislators had moved the motion for Justice Adi’s removal, he said the question should be posed to the government and not him.

TB Jayachandra: Not a setback for Siddaramaiah Government
Law and parliamentary affairs minister, T.B. Jayachandra put up a brave front on Friday while interpreting the Subhash Adi case. “The judgment of Justice Budihal is not a setback for the state government. Justice Budihal has only said that the evidence and documents provided were not in order. But, we have decided to close the chapter," he said.

Mr Jayachandra said the government need not resign on this issue. “Did the NDA government resign after the SC verdict on Uttarakhand case?" he said. Mr Jayachandra revealed that the file related to the appointment of Justice S.R. Nayak as the next Lokayukta has been sent to the governor. On whether the governor had sought any clarification, he replied in the negative and said, “The file was not rejected but I do not have more details.
