Khammam: New rail line ready, set to reduce 60 km

The journey duration between two cities will be reduced to one-and-a-half hour.

Khammam: The stage is all set for passenger trains to ply between Motamarri to Miryalaguda route, which will reduce 60 kilometres distance to reach Secunderabad from Vijayawada through Miryalaguda and Nalgonda stations.

The completion of the last stretch of railway line of Mathamapalli –Raghavapuram of Jaggaiahpet-Mellacheruvu- Janapad new line that connects Vishnupuram on Secunderabad-Guntur route with Motamarri has paved a way for running passenger trains on the route. The route up to Jaggaiahpet, so far, is being used to shift iron ore from Jaggiahapet to Visakhapatnam.

The route has been opened for goods traffic at present. Passenger trains can also ply this route. Railway officials are considering the line as a key to reduce train traffic between Kazipet and Vijayawada.

Further, the route can be used as a loop line in case of emergency and any problem that arises between Khammam and Secunderabad line.

Another key factor of Motamarri-Vishnupuram line is the distance between Vijayawada to Secunderabad will be reduced to 60km if some passenger trains ply this route.

The journey duration between two cities will be reduced to one-and-a-half hour. Some passenger trains running from Kolkata and Visakhapatnam can be diverted to this route.

Secondly, the railways can save power consumption reducing the financial burden on the exchequer. The route will also introduce passenger service to the people of Jaggaiahpet and Makkapet in Krishna district and Janapad, Mathampalli and Vishunupuram areas in Nalgonda district.

Both Telangana and AP can benefit through this new route.

The second line between Motamarri and Jaggaiahpet is also being done. People in these areas are requesting the railways to run one or two passenger trains to their areas as part of introducing rail services to the people there.
