Hyderabad: Accused to get bail in Pranay murder case

Though the trial court at Miryalguda granted bail about three months ago.

Hyderabad: With the striking down of the Preventive Detention order by the Telangana High Court, the way was cleared to release of Mr T. Maruthi Rao, the main accused in the killing of Pranay (his own son-in-law) in broad daylight in Miryalguda town in September 2018 with the help of hired assassins.

Though the trial court at Miryalguda granted bail about three months ago, Mr Maruthi Rao and the other accused were lodged in Central Prison at Warangal, due to their detention under the PD Act.

The accused have challenged the detention order before the High Court and it had struck down the order. “The orders of preventive detention do not show that the detainee habitually committed the offences mentioned in Section 2 (g) of the PD Act,” it said.
