Ashok Kumar of Akshara Foundation is ‘Namma Bengalurean’ of the year

The trust had shortlisted 28 candidates from hundreds of nominations from different categories.

Bengaluru: Namma Bengaluru Awards Trust hosted the 10th Edition of Namma Bengaluru Awards’ (NBA) on Saturday to honour the ‘real heroes’ of the city.

The trust had shortlisted 28 candidates from hundreds of nominations from different categories.

This year’s theme was ‘Awakened, Aware, Active, Informed and Determined citizens can create change’.

The awards function began with the gathering paying their respects to deceased political leaders from Bengaluru – BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Ananth Kumar, Congress leader and former union minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief, and BJP leader and former MLA B.N. Vijaya Kumar.

Ashok Kamath of Akshara Foundation was honoured with the coveted “Namma Bengalurean of the Year” award for his exemplary service to improve public education system in Bengaluru and the state.

Udaya Kumar, History and stone inscription enthusiast is Citizen Individual of the Year, and Ravindra Kumar N., Karnataka Forest Depa—rtment got the award for Government official of the year.
