Bengaluru: Biker hits road median, dies

The road had several potholes and was filled with mud as a temporary measure and the bike headlight was not working.

Bengaluru: Two people died in separate road accidents in Yelahanka and Devanahalli traffic police station limits since Thursday night.

In the first incident, a 27-year-old mechanic died on spot after he lost control over his bike and rammed into a road median on Singapura Main Road in Yelahanka on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Sharukh Baig, a resident of Aditya Nagar in Vidyaranyapura.

The accident took place when Sharukh was returning home from work. The road had several potholes and was filled with mud as a temporary measure and the bike headlight was not working. While negotiating the potholes Sharukh reportedly lost control. He died on the spot due to severe head injuries. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case and begun investigation.

Speeding car hits bike
In another incident, a 19-year-old youth died on the spot while his friend escaped with injuries after a speeding car hit their vehicle near Uganawadi Gate in Devanahalli on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Madhu, who was riding the bike, while his friend Ajith was riding pillion. Both were residents of Soolibele.

According to the police, while returning after visiting their relatives, a speeding car mowed them down. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

Madhu sustained severe head injuries and died while Ajith was rushed to the nearby hospital where he is currently being treated.
