Bengaluru: CID SP alleges harassment by Narang

The case could be investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, sources said.

BENGALURU: Superintendent of Police (CID) Madhura Veena and her team, who have been accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a hotel management in Shivajinagar after an unsuccessful raid, has written a letter to Home Minister G. Parameshwar and DG&IGP Om Prakash alleging that DIG (CID) Sonia Narang was harassing her.

Sources said that Ms Veena has stated that Ms Narang targeted her and two other officials in the department and ill-treating them as they belonged to schedule caste.

This was in reaction to an investigation report submitted by Ms Narang to Mr Om Prakash on the alleged bribe scandal. Ms Veena has alleged that she had informed her senior officer about the raid and had told her that there was no flesh trade being run from the hotel.

Mr Prakash said as Ms Veena is making allegations against the investigating officer and her senior, Ms Narang, a separate team will be formed to investigate the case of alleged extortion by Ms Veena. The case could be investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, sources said.

Ms Veena and her team members raided the hotel on March 2 after a tipoff that a prostitution racket was being run from there. Though the raid was called off, the CID team allegedly took Rs 2 lakh bribe.
