Nepal to align with Kerala on tourism, ayurveda

The proposal was made by the chief minister when a delegation led by Mr. Khanal called on him at the official residence Cliff House on Wednesday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Former prime minister of Nepal and senior leader of Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Jhala Nath Khanal has accepted the proposal of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for cooperation with Kerala in the tourism and ayurveda sectors.

The proposal was made by the chief minister when a delegation led by Mr. Khanal called on him at the official residence Cliff House on Wednesday. Mr Khanal briefed the chief minister about the political situation in Nepal and progammes being implemented by the Nepalese government in various sectors. Nepal was currently making all efforts to modernise the agriculture sector, he said.

The two leaders also discussed the possibilities of co-operation between Nepal and Kerala in other fields as well. The former prime minister had on Tuesday expressed the desire to learn from the Kerala model of development particularly in the health, local bodies and cooperative sector. "We are in the process of developing and implementing our own model of development and the experiences of Kerala would help us significantly," he said.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and politburo member M.A. Baby were also present during the meeting.
