Kerala: 102 heat-related cases on Wednesday

As per the statistics released by the health department, there were 54 heat rash cases, 46 sunburn cases and two sunstroke cases reported.

Thiruvananthapuram: Several people got injured as state continued to swelter through an unprecedented heatwave. On Wednesday around 102 heat-related adverse health events including sunburn and sunstroke were reported in the state.

As per the statistics released by the health department, there were 54 heat rash cases, 46 sunburn cases and two sunstroke cases reported.

According to Indian Metrology Department rise in temperatures will continue for one more week.

The health authorities have urged the public to strictly follow the advisory issued by the department and avoid going in the sun from 11 am to 3 pm.

Health minister K. K. Shylaja said that the state is not familiar with the situation and hence follow the advisories to protect themselves. She said that the department is in talks with the Indian Medical Association to ensure coordination of private hospitals in the state. So far around 284 heat-related incidents have happened in the state.
