10 nominations accepted, 5 rejected in the Nilgiris

It appears that the Nilgiris is set for a four-cornered contest this Lok Sabha elections.

OOTY: While 10 nominations were accepted, five others including that of Naam Tamizhar Katchi candidate were rejected at the scrutiny of nominations for the Nilgiris (SC) constituency, held on Wednesday.

The nominations papers of Manimegalai (Naam Thamizhar), Saravanakumar (AIADMK-dummy), S. Kalaiselvan (Independent), K. Kamaraj (Independent) and Vijayandha Kannapiran (Independent) were found to be defective and were rejected during scrutiny.

Nomination of M. Thiyagarajan (AIADMK), A. Raja (DMK), M. Ramaswamy (AMMK) contesting as Independent), R. Ashokkumar (BSP), N. Rajenthiran (MNM), M. Subramani (Baduga Desa Party) contesting as Independent), P. Arumukam (Independent), A. Nagarajan (Independent), M. Rajarathinam (Independent) and K. Raja (Independent) were accepted.

As Friday, is the last date for withdrawal of nominations, the final list of contestants and symbols allotted to them will be made known by Friday evening.

As the major political parties like AIADMK, DMK, AMMK and MNM are in the fray, it appears that the Nilgiris is set for a four-cornered contest this Lok Sabha elections.
