Vijayawada turns fashion capital of Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada is emerging as the fashion capital of Andhra Pradesh. The fashion shows started here with traditional dress a few months ago. Now it has turned to the pure western fashion shows being organised with international dress designs displayed by the models. The first of its kind fashion show was organised by city girl Apoorva Ghanshani with her colleague Jainith Jain on the show christened as Andhra Pradesh Fashion Week.
City people enjoyed, encouraged and praised Apoorva’s team as the fashion show was organised like a show in Milan, the capital of fashion. Though there is Visakhapatnam, a cosmopolitan city in Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati is turning into a hub of fashion shows. If the shows increase, fashion design students and designers will get an encouragement. The show was organised with 24 females and 8 male models and Bollywood actresses also. The 15 international, national and state-level designers presented their designs at a gathering, including fashion designers and fashion design students.
Supermodels such as Jackie Bisterwitch, Amin, Pavi Poovapa, Auchitya Thakur, Priyanka Diwan, Deepika Tiwari, Sharon Rose, Deborah, Akash Singh Rajput and Jane from Bangalore and Mumbai presented the designs of Ramesh Dembla, Abhishek Dutta, Jayanthi Ballal, Asif Merchant, Sumit Das Gupta, R.Laxmi Devi, Vidya Sagar, Jayesh Maini, Aks Studio, Shivanii Singhania, Balaji Manickam and Dream zone students. Ramesh Dembla and Karun Raman acted as the show directors for the entire AP fashion week.
“It was amazing. I am from Vijayawada. We were afraid on the first day of the show. The hall was with a short gathering at the beginning. After few hours, there was a huge crowd and it continued till the end of the third-day last show,” Apoorva Ghanshani, organiser, said. “We feel proud to say that a first of its kind show was organised in Amaravati city. It was a great success with tremendous response of the city people. The support given by Vijayawada people is marvellous and will plan for the second edition of our event in September,” co-organiser Jainith Jain said.
The show has instilled confidence in the local designers. They said that such fashion shows will give indirect support for the state weavers. The people in the city also said that they want to upgrade themselves with the latest and modern trends and these shows will educate them about the new fashion in the market. “I felt very happy to present my own wedding designs on the ramp and it has given me confidence that we can also do some more designs based on western style to suit local needs,” R. Lakshmi Devi (Sahah), designer, who participated in the show, said. “Now the city people also noticed that there are so many designers in the city and state,” she said.
