Telangana doctors to go on strike from today
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government Doctors Association issued an indefinite strike notice from March 28, stating that the government had failed to solve their problems and was against service doctors.
The association formed the Telangana Government Doctors Joint Action Committee and in its draft highlighted 10 issues which the government had promised to solve a year ago. Committee convener Dr Lalu Prasad said, “We have been constantly approaching the government and it promised to look into our problems. But there has not been any solution offered so far. Hence we are forced to go on strike.”
The demands included cancellation of the government order issued on March 20 where in-service doctors were not being given reservations for post-graduate seats.
They wanted increase in staff at the director level, time-bound promotion, hike in emergency allowances and vehicles at public health centres.
Besides, they sought implementation of the commission schemes and career advancement scheme, increase of non-clinical strength to improve the healthcare infrastructure and treasury salaries for Vidya Vidhan Parishad employees and health cards.
Among the other demands were incentives for KCR kit scheme, creation of various posts for the new districts, cancellation of suspension orders of Warnagal KMC forensic professor Dr Raza Mallik Khan, immediate construction of new Osmania GH building and protocol order for government doctors.
