Hyderabad: In a third such incident in the city in recent times, a 21 year old graduate committed suicide at Meerpet on Tuesday.

Juttukonda Karthik who hanged himself at his room in RN Reddy nagar under Meerpet Police station limits, left a suicide note stating that he was depressedc on being able to get a government job. “Nobody is responsible for my death. I am responsible for this.” the note read.

In December 2017, OU PG student E. Murali committed suicide due to depression from failing to get a government job. On March 6, physically challenged B. Mahender (30) hanged himself in his room at the Government hostel for differently-abled in Vanasthalipuram.

Juttukonda Karthik, hailing from Ketavarigudem village in Garidapalli mandal in Suryapet district, had completed graduation and moved to the city for preparing for entrance tests for government jobs.

He along with a few other boys from his district lived in a rented room at RN Reddy Nagar and together prepared for entrance exams.
On the occasion of Ugadi last week, all the roommates went to their hometown.

While others stayed back, Karthik returned to the city on Saturday and was alone in the room since then preparing for exams.

On Tuesday evening, the inmates of the neighboring room found him hanging from the ceiling and immediately alerted police.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered a suicide note from the room. Meerpet police station SI H. Raghavender said that the youth wrote in the suicide note that he could clear the entrance for government jobs, due to which he was taking the extreme step.
