CM Pinarayi Vijayan offers help to Nissan for global IT hub

Sources said that the Nissan team wanted the state to ensure infrastructure support like transportation for new ventures.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered all support to automobile giant Nissan to set up a global IT hub in Thiruvananthapuram, it is reliably learnt. Nissan, which is also considering various other Indian cities for the project, is likely to take a final decision on the location soon. The Nissan delegation comprising corporate vice president and chief information officer Anthony Thomas, had a luncheon meeting with the Chief Minister and other top bureaucrats at Cliff House, the residence of the Chief Minister.

Sources said that the Nissan team wanted the state to ensure infrastructure support like transportation for new ventures. The state government also seems to be working out special packages for Nissan. The proposed global IT hub could play key role in Nissan's initiatives in electric cars and driver car technologies. Meanwhile, there were also reports that IT major Tech Mahindra is actively considering investments in the state. A team from Tech Mahindra also came down to the state the other day and held talks with top officials.
