Vials at Gandhi Hospital still a mystery
Hyderabad: Three doctors have visited Gandhi Hospital and inquired into the incident where two vials were found in the paediatric ward. The presence of those vials there became a bone of contention amid suspicion that they were kept inside the ward after the children’s condition stabilised. The suspension of two nurses has angered contract workers who feel they are being made the scapegoat amid demands for punishment. Junior doctors too are upset over the memo issued to the duty doctor.
A junior doctor claimed, “It was the duty doctor who acted on time and stabilised the children’s condition. Instead of recognising this, he is being punished.” Caught in repeated complaints of mis-governance, the state’s premier medical facility has got a new superintendent, Dr Shravan Kumar. He has taken charge and is trying to put things in order and tone up the administration.
Health minister Dr Laxma Reddy, himself on the defensive, says, “We have sufficient wheelchairs, and other facilities would soon be provided. Attendants are under a lot of pressure and security would be stepped.
