Karnataka Congress leader showers praise on Modi

Sources said Rajashekaran has written a letter to Modi complimenting him for the recent BJP victories in UP and Uttarakhand.

New Delhi: Following close on the heels of SM Krishna's dramatic embrace of the BJP, and in a further indication that the Congress' house is shaky in Karnataka ahead of state polls, another Congress leader M V Rajashekaran, the son-in-law of former AICC President and Karnataka Chief minister late S Nijalingappa has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in what many say, could presage another stalwart Congressman jumping ship.

Sources said Rajashekaran, minister of state for planning in the Manmohan Singh cabinet, has written a letter to Modi complimenting him for the recent BJP victories in UP and Uttarakhand.

In his letter Rajashekaran stated that the PM has rightly pointed out about the role of middle class in finding solutions to their problems and making them equal partners in the development process.

“You have been able to establish a direct rapport with the electorate, especially with the younger generation of the electorate who constitute a majority of our voters,” he said in the letter.

Rajashekaran writes to Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu congratulating him for the Bharatiya Janata Party getting absolute majority in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

He praised Naidu and stated that he has contributed much for the success of the Indian democracy and its functioning. Karnataka is set to go to the polls next year.
