Jagan launches OTS initiative to get clear titles

Some Rs 10,000 crore worth debts were waived through the OTS scheme in addition to a stamp duty exemption of Rs 1,600 crore

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday launched the loan facility for the ‘One Time Settlement’ scheme’s beneficiaries under the Jagananna Sampoorna Gruha Hakku Scheme here.

The chief minister said the beneficiaries from Guntur municipal corporation paid Rs 20,000 and got clear titles for their property without litigation. They in turn mortgaged their property again and got a loan of Rs 3 lakh so that it would help their families have a better life.

He said that under the Jagananna Sampoorna Gruha Hakku scheme, each beneficiary got a benefit of Rs 15,000 with complete exemption of registration charges and stamp duties. Some Rs 10,000 crore worth debts were waived through the OTS scheme in addition to a stamp duty exemption of Rs 1,600 crore, he said.

The CM directed the officials to complete the registration of properties for OTS beneficiaries within the stipulated time.

Chaitanya Godavari Grameena Bank chairman Kameswara Rao praised the state government for its OTS initiative and said it was providing clear titles to the beneficiaries for their properties under the scheme.

State-level bankers’ committee convener Brahmananda Reddy said the OTS initiative to register and provide clear titles benefited many poor people across the state.
