Major revamp of Mavoor Road crematorium soon

Kozhikode: The Mavoor Road Crematorium in Kozhikode North assembly constituency is readying for a significant revamp.

It has received Rs 4.5 crore for the facelift primarily focusing on more infrastructural facilities.

All the necessary permissions are in place, and the money comes from the Local Area Development Fund of the legislator A. Pradeep Kumar.

The authorities want to give it a modern look and ensure serenity to the ambience the electric crematorium built in 2003 by a Bangalore-based company.

"Resting place for the people who come here with the dead bodies for burial and other traditional customs will be there," he said.

"They include seating arrangements, drinking water facility, gathering hall for prayers and other meeting, toilet facilities and beautiful landscape."

A walkway from the main entrance to the gas chamber will be converted to a beautiful garden. Elaborate parking facilities are also part of the master plan.
