Kakinada: Control room to monitor Council elections

As many as 299 polling stations were to be set up and added that out of them, 166 were to be set up in East Godavari.

Kakinada: East Godavari administration has set up a control room to monitor the conduct of MLC polls from the graduates' constituency comprising both the Godavari districts at Collectorate at Kakinada.

District collector Mr Karthikeya Misra told media persons here on Wednesday that they had appointed District Forest Officer (Territorial) Dr Nandani Salaria as in-charge officer at the control room.

He advised the general public to contact the control room in case they intended to convey any information pertaining to the MLC polls by calling up the toll free no. 18004253077 or by calling up other phone nos. 0884-2371950/951.

Referring to the ongoing drive on conduct of awareness programme for the voters on how to use EVMs to cast their vote at the time of elections, the collector said that out of the targeted number of four lakh voters, they had covered so far only 1.49 lakh voters but sounded confident about fulfilling the target soon.

He said that they were providing awareness to DWCRA women, people working in national rural employment guarantee scheme and also to the pensioners.

The collector said that as many as 299 polling stations were to be set up and added that out of them, 166 were to be set up in East Godavari while the remaining 133 were to be set up in West Godavari. He also said that at 33 polling stations where the number of voters was more than 1,400, they were going to set up auxiliary polling stations for the benefit of voters.

In a bid to implement a model code of conduct for MLC polls, Mr Misra said that 74 teams of officials in East Godavari and 48 teams in West Godavari were formed and added that a media certification and monitoring committee was formed at district level that would keep tab on paid articles, advertisements and campaigns on social media.
