Hyderabad: Birthday celebrations turned tragic for four polytechnic students of Anurag Engineering college.
The boys drowned in Kodada lake on Wednesday evening.
The victims have been identified as Sameer, Praveen, Buhavan Prasad, and Mahender.
According to the police they had gone there to celebrate Sameer’s birthday.
Circle inspector of Kodad town M. Ravi said, “During the celebration, Sameer went near the lake to wash his hands. While washing, he accidentally fell into the water and started screaming for help. His friends jumped into the lake in a bid to rescue him and ended up drowning as well, as they did not know swimming.”
The police have registered a case under relevant Sections of the IPC and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, police shifted the bodies to Kodad government hospital and handed them over to the family members after post-mortem.
