Chennai: Woman robbed of gold chain at home
Chennai: A woman was robbed at knifepoint at her residence in Chromepet and her gold chain weighing nine sovereigns was taken away from her on Tuesday night.
The Chromepet police have launched a search for two persons in connection with the incident.
Accoding to police, the victim identified as Brindha, 28, lives with her two friends in New Colony in Chromepet and works for a private software firm in Old Mahabalipuram Road.
At around 7:30 pm on Tuesday, Brindha allegedly took a bus from her office area and reached G.S.T Road in Chromepet. When she was walking to her house in New Colony, two unidentified men followed her to her house,” said a police officer. When she reached her house, two men pushed her inside the house and locked the door. They then allegedly chocked Brindha with her dupatta and When she resisted, they caused a mild cut near her eye with a knife. They then fled the spot with her seven sovereigns of gold.
Police said quoting Brindha, she had fainted when the incident happened and only after her housemates reached home late on Tuesday night, they filed a complaint.
Sources said the police are clueless as the CCTV cameras installed by the Greater Chennai police was repaired and they were not able to retrieve the footages.
