Bring Abhinandan Varthaman back: Tamil Nadu
Chennai: DMK president M. K. Stalin has urged the Centre “to do everything necessary to get Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman safely back home at the earliest.
Taking to twitter, Mr. Stalin said “My thoughts are with the family and friends of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. I urge the Government of India to do everything necessary to get him safely back home at the earliest.”
Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said the IAF Wing Commander would be rescued.
MNM leader Kamal Haasan exuded confidence that the IAF official would return to the country and his home “safely.” Mr. Kamal who spoke to Abhinandan’s farther retired Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman and said his son would return home safely.
Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy urged the Centre on Wednesday to take all possible steps for the safe release of the Wing Commander, who is in the custody of Pakistan. “I feel sad for our Wing Commander IAF Pilot Shri #AbhinandanVarthaman is in the custody of Pakistan. I urge the Govt to take all possible steps including Diplomatic channel for release of the Pilot,” Mr. Narayanasamy tweeted.
India on Wednesday demanded immediate and safe return of IAF pilot Abhinandan, captured by Pakistan after an aerial confrontation, and strongly objected to the neighbouring country’s “vulgar display” of an injured defence personnel in violation of international norms.
