SHE Teams of the Bhongir division of Rachakonda rescued a 16-year-old girl from child marriage on Tuesday.
SHE teams also stopped a child marriage in Bhongir Zone. The suspects included a student and an auto driver among others.
Hyderabad: SHE Teams of the Bhongir division of Rachakonda rescued a 16-year-old girl from child marriage on Tuesday.
SHE Teams recently conducted public awareness programs on child marriages in the Ramojinayak thanda of Gollagudem village in Thurkapally mandal. On Tuesday, one of the villagers informed officers from the Bhongir division that a 16-year-old girl from the village was scheduled to marry a 23-year-old from the same thanda on March 23.
SHE Teams officers accompanied by the Thurkapally police immediately went to the girl’s house and counselled her parents as well as the parents of her groom-to-be. They agreed to wait until the girl turned 18 before getting her married.
