Hyderabad: It’s all chaos around Charminar market after the traffic police closed down the road around the historic edifice. Motorists are expressing their anger towards the authorities as they failed to arrange proper parking of vehicles.
Following the request from the GHMC authorities, the traffic police blocked roads leading to Charminar. Iron barricades were placed at Panch Mohalla Kaman, Motigalli junction, Sardar Mahal and Gulzar Houz to prevent motorists from heading towards Charminar.
The restrictions were enforced last week. “It is good that something is being done to protect the monument. But what about the visitors to the market? Where do they expect us to park our vehicles?” asks Satish M., a bank employee, who came to see the monument. The authorities had planned to open up parking lots for public at Charminar bus stand and Old Pension Office at Motigalli. However, it was not opened for public and restrictions were imposed.
