BENGALURU: The Department of Pre-University Education has claimed it has made preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the final year PU examinations, which will be held from Thursday to March 17.
A total of 6.90 lakh students (3.52 lakh boys and 3.37 lakh girls) have registered this year and it will be held in 1,004 centres across the state. To ensure security at exam centres, 32 Joint chief directors and 858 examination squads have been appointed, said C. Shikha, Director of Pre-University Board.
Randomisation
Both students and invigilators will be selected based on the randomization process, which means students and invigilators cannot write or supervise exams at their own institution. However, the rule will be relaxed in rural areas, where centres are located at a great distance.
CCTVs
For smooth conduct of examinations all centres will be equipped with CCTV cameras. “The Karnataka Secure Examination system has been more tightened. Biometrics will be mandatory for the staff involved in the examination work, there will be barcodes for the question papers and vehicles carrying question papers will have GPS installation. Use of mobile phones is strictly banned for staff involved in the examination process,” added Shikha.
Free bus facility
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will provide free transportation to Pre-University students to and from the examination centres. Students can show their hall tickets from March 1 to 17 and travel freely in any ordinary or express buses which ply on their respective routes.
Renewal
Students of 180 pre-university colleges, which have not applied for renewal recognition, will be allowed to appear for the examination.
Earlier, answering to a question in the Assembly Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait stated that 180 colleges have not completed the process of renewal of recognition.
C Shikha said, “We have issued notice to colleges for not submitting applications for renewal of recognition. Once they reply, we will take action on a case-by-case basis.” Mr Sait said there were 383 PU colleges whose recognition had been withheld.
